Dr. Norbert Jesse

Norbert Jesse has studied Social Sciences with focus on economics and statistics at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. He received his Ph.D. (1981) with an exploration of multi-dimensional spatial data. In the 80th he served as Head of Department for Information Technology and Development at the administration of the University of DrDortmund. In 1990 he joined the Department of Computer Science, University of Dortmund, where he was involved in numerous national and international projects. He supported the Informatik Centrum Dortmund e. V. (ICD) and helped to establish the Fuzzy Demonstration Center. In the 90th he was Managing Director of a multi-disciplinary institution for technology transfer.

In 2001 Jesse co-founded QuinScape GmbH, an IT services provider for enterprise mobility, portal & web applications (intranet and extranet), data & system integration and reporting & analytics. QuinScape has currently more than 100 employees.

His current interests are Business Development, Big Data and IoT, Business Analytics, Knowledge Management.

Jesse was organizer and co-organizer of numerous international conferences (Fuzzy Days, FIRA World Congresses, CIRAS, Enterprise 2.0 etc.). He is author or co-author of 54 scientific papers and co-editor of 6 books.

Peter_Groumpos

Prof. Dr. Peter P. Groumpos

Professor P. Groumpos received his Ph.D. from the University of Buffalo of SUNY, in 1978, Department of Electrical Engineering and has been engaged in teaching, research and collaboration with industry since then both in USA (1979-1989) and in Greece since his return from USA to the University of Patras in 1990. He is full professor at the Dept. of EE&CS of the University of Patras. In USA he developed and directed an Energy Research Center at Cleveland State University (1981-1989) while in Greece he developed the Laboratory for Automation and Robotics (LAR) in 1991 and he is its Director since then. His research interests are in the areas of modeling complex dynamic systems, energy, environment, renewable energy sources, Robotics, Fuzzy Cognitive maps (FCM), techno and economics for intelligent buildings and smart grids, optimization of electric power systems and Intelligent Control. He has used extensively Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) in many scientific fields with very useful research results such as in: health, energy, environment, communications, agriculture, transportation, Business and Economics Hybrid Energy Systems and reliability analysis of engineering systems.

He is the author of more than 300 scientific publications (Books, invited book chapters, articles, papers, monographs and technical reports). He was the President of Patras Science Park (2004-2010). He has been as principal Investigator in more than 20 Projects as well as partner in another 40 projects.
He is an Invited Academician honorary member of the Russian Council on Mechatronics and Robotics since 2002 and Guest honorary Professor of the East China University of Science and Technology since 2013.

Prof. Peter Kopacek

Graduated from Vienna University of Technology in Automatic Control (1966) until 1985, Assistant Prof. at TU Wien. 1971 Cum-laude doctors degree in Control.
1986-1990 Full Professor for “Systems Engineering and Automation” at University of Linz, Austria. From 1990 – 2008 Head of the Institute for “Handling Devices and Robotics”,TU Wien; President of the Austrian Society for Systems Engineering and Automation (SAT).
Since March 1985 Vice President and General Secretary of IFAC/Austria and of ÖGART the Austrian IFAC NMO.1988 – 1995 Scientific Supervisor of the Scientific Academy of LowerAustria.
He received three Doctor honoris causa degrees, is corresponding member of the Saxonian Academy of Sciences and the German Academy of Technical Sciences. , Member of IFAC, IFR, IEEE and received 2006 the “Engelberger Award” from the Industrial American RoboticsSociety.
Founder and Academic Program Director of the executive, postgraduate MSc Program “Engineering Management” at TU Wien.

Dr. Sang M. Lee

Dr. Lee is the University Eminent Scholar and Regents Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. His seminal research on multiple objective decision-making, global strategy, and innovation through convergence has been globally recognized. He has published 70 books, more than 350 journal articles, and produced 140 PhDs during his university career. He served as President of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) and currently serving as President of the Pan-Pacific Business Association (PPBA). He is a Fellow of the Academy of Management, DSI, and PPBA. He has served as the Program Chair of over 50 international and US professional conferences. He has visited more than 200 universities, research centers, and government agencies in over 70 countries as a distinguished visiting scholar. He directed major US government sponsored projects in Albania (UDAID for 12 years), Macedonia, Africa, Southeast and Central Asian countries, and others. He is currently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of Service Business: An International Journal and International Journal of Quality Innovation, both of Springer Publishers. He has served as a consultant to a number of global firms. He has received five honorary doctorates for his contribution to global business education, including the Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Tirana.

Dr. Ing. Thomas Duda

We are happy to announce a plenary talk by Dr.-Ing. Thomas Duda. Duda Graduated from University of Dortmund in 1993, Department of Mechanical Engineering he obtained a Doctor degree (2001) also from University of Dortmund in the field of Thermal Spraying, Plasma diagnostics .
From 2001 to 2016, Dr. Duda was employed at Alstom Power/GE, Switzerland, where hi worked in various management position, ranging from Hot Gas Turbine Design, Life Time Prediction Methods to Turbine Manufacturing Engineering. Since 2016 he is employed at Pentair Valves & Controls, Switzerland. Global Engineering Director for Gate, Globe, Check and Control Valves. and since 2010 he is invited lecturer at the CEC and TU Wien.
Dr Dudas research interests are on : Engineering Management, Advanced manufacturing technologies, Integrated manufacturing, with more than 67 articles and conference contributions.
